Vegging out at Lambeth Country Show

There was I, perusing my @loveclapham Twitter account when ding-dong in comes this doozy of a link detailing the winners and losers of the Vegetable Figure competition at the Lambeth Country Show 2009. It’s always a brilliant event (the overall show too…) with hilarious consequences. LoveClapham’s personal favourite is the above Cauli-Sheep. It’s got such a nice smile. Check out the other entries including a King Edward Potato of Pop, Michael Jackson carving by the West End Whingers. The Mayor and Mayoress of Lambeth are fast becoming the area’s most amazing personalities. If you don’t believe me, check out the Mayor of Lambeth’s photo and video report from the show. If you’ve ever seen a Mayor that can rival the ‘on miniature train shot’, we dare you to get in touch.

Looking about me, no one else waiting seemed to notice this rat, but sure enough, it was still there and heading my way. Read the rest of this entry »

Armin Van Buuren for South West Four Festival
Watch the above interview with DJ Armin Van Buuren as he talks about the run-up to SW4 on Clapham Common. It’s always a massive festival, and this year looks to be no exception when it finally happens on Saturday 29 August. Note Love Clapham’s favourite clubbing accessory in this video: massive sunglasses when you’re inside. Oh yes. An after show party has also just been announced for an additional twenty smackers at The Coronet in Elephant & Castle. Eric Prydz will be playing, if that helps tempt you to part with your cash. Visit our Clapham Festival Guide to find out about all upcoming Clapham Common gigs.

This was accomplished by meeting Clapham Picture House manager and guest star of the 2008 Apprentice series, Mike Matthews, who took the time to speak to Love Clapham about the cinema’s history, its renaissance and its future moves into digital and 3D.
