Register to Vote before 21 November

Whether you live in Lambeth or Wandsworth, time is running out to make sure you are registered on the “electoral register”, the list that allows you to vote in local and general elections. You have until 21st November to register, and if you don’t you won’t have a say in who runs the local council or who runs the country for the next four years. That should be important enough, but if it isn’t, by not being registered it can mess up your ability to get loans, bank accounts, direct debits etc.
The local election is being held on 6 May 2010 and there will be a general election before next June. Both of these elections will impact you in a major way and while the general election is of course very important, Love Clapham is massively focussed on the local election.
After getting much closer to my area of Clapham over the last year I now have a massive interest in the way it’s being run and what happens in my area in the future. As such, Love Clapham wants to make sure as many local residents are not only registered to vote, but that they have enough information to know who to vote for.
So does Lambeth Council which has not only plastered information all over its local newspaper, but has also sent out “an army of canvassers” to gather opinion on which way people are likely to vote next year. On Twitter one of these canvassers has been described by Tweeters as “hot” so keep an eye out for that one ;o)
Love Clapham will have much, much more on this in the near future.
