Read something in the paper at the weekend that said that in London you know only 6 people who live in your street by name - is that true for anyone in Clapham???

Not counting "Mad Bob" who drinks in the boozer near us, we must know loads of people. Yes the houses on both sides are house-shares, but we know the people opposite, next door but one, in fact most of the street... Is Clapham neighbour-friendly??? Are we a break from the norm?

Good question. I know the names of our upstairs neighbours, who are absolutely lovely. Apart from that, I don't know anyone else down our street let along six!

I have a fair few friends around Clapham though, which is partly why I love it so much, it does have a bit of villagey friendly feel about it.

I'm sure that you would nod and mutter a hello to people you recognise... and I'm sure that mates count too - this article said that people in Newcastle know 11 neighbours...

It's one of the things I love about Clapham - I do know a lot of people who are friends locally but in the building I live in I know all five of the other residents and we all socialise...it's a bit Tales of the City round our way!

I've lived in the area for 3 months and I have only met 1 person who lives in my road and I met her through a local club. I've not met any other neighbours at all. I'm thinking of joining the local running club just to meet some new people!

I've met the lady downstairs but not the bloke in the next flat up and I've been here a month. Is that bad?

I haven't met any of my neighbours yet but look forward to meeting Alan the magician.
