Spring, art and cake

It’s a Mayday craft filled fest as Art+Cake in SW4, Clapham‘s free art and craft collectibles fair returns for its regular spot

This free, one-day, event offers Clapham's locals, artists and craft designers a place to come together as a community to enjoy art and crafts.

Held in a glass indoor and outdoor setting, the monthly event gets underway on Saturday 5 May 2012. Organised by the SW Review (formerly the SW4 magazine), the event launched in 2011 also provides an opportunity to buy new art from local artists, along with hand made craft designs.

Also featured are stalls exhibiting homewares, fashion, jewellery, collectibles along with vintage and contemporary designs. Visitors also get an opportunity to indulge in plenty of cake along with sweet baked treats and good nosh, and the event also offers a parent-supervised, free play area for children.

With high quality items priced from £5.00 upwards, the event is said to create a vibrant art and craft collectibles market place for Clapham's community.

Joan David-Kaye, creative director, said: “We provide artists with a visible platform on the high street and a place for the local community to share in the pleasure that art and crafts brings. Our two favourite things are art and cake; both provide much pleasure and derive from a creative process, and this is something we like to celebrate.”

Art and Antiques comes to SW4 with the launch of the Clapham Art and Antiques Fair Spring 2012, a new two-day free event for local art and antiques enthusiasts. Celebrating the best of art and antiques in South West London, this intimate affordable fair, held in aglass venue on Clapham High Street, brings together, a range of art and antiques from local galleries and antique dealers, all under one roof.
Set to become a regular fixture in SW4, the fair includes a late evening closing time of 9pm on the first day.
