What is this all manner of wrongness doing in Clapham High Street’s Tesco Metro?! LoveClapham’s going for our last summer holiday next weekend! GET THIS CLAPHAM: Christmas decorations do not appear in public until October at the earliest.

Hundreds and hundreds of Claphamites voted over the past month in the first ever local awards, the Clapham Awards 2009. With honours up for grabs for the best pub, bar, restaurant, shop and more, the awards were incredibly competitive – and one bar has totally cleaned up! We also have the Best Clapham Oddity award, Clapper of the Year and the award for Clapham’s best loved music artist. This week the new Meryl Streep and Amy Adams film, Julie & Julia, comes out in Clapham Picture House and to celebrate they’ve given us four sets of aprons and books to go to four lucky winners! Last month we ran a competition to win some pretty cool Inglourious Basterds goodies including posters, limited edition t-shirts, caps and a bag. LoveClapham.com is a mere five months young, but we’ve been lucky to have thousands of sexy Clappers visiting the site every day and August was our most popular month by far – hoorah! We’re not power hungry but it’s nice to know someone at least visits. Thanks to all of you that keep coming back for more and hello to all you newbies out there. To celebrate, we’ve just set up our own Clapham social network which allows you to join for free, chat on the forums, post events, pictures, update your profile and loads more. There will be loads of new tools in the near future too. You will rightly have guessed that we have an obsession with our local cinema, Clapham Picture House, but for good reason – it’s bloomin’ amazing! Love Clapham is so excited about this week’s showings with District 9, the film Peter Jackson helped push to an international release. If you haven’t heard of it yet, check out the trailer above. Love Clapham’s on holiday this week, so sorry about the site being slightly quieter. This weekend marks the end of Clapham’s run of festivals – boo hoo! – and it’s the big ones, SW4 and Get Loaded in the Park. If you managed to secure yourself tickets have a wicked time! We’ll have Clapham Picture House’s film listings up today or tomorrow, but Love Clapham’s mega excited about a one-off charity screening of Bugsie Malone at 1pm on Bank Holiday Monday. Classic! Now, if you will excuse us, Love Clapham needs to go and chillax. TTYL.

Back in April Love Clapham wrote about the utterly ridiculous amount of leaflets Clapham residents have to fight their way through to get out of the door in the morning. Internationally renowned DJs, The Freemasons are heading to Clapham this weekend to play at the White House on Saturday 15th August. The Freemasons can often be spotted dj-ing at clubs across South London, particularly in Vauxhall, but they’re better known for their remixes of international music artists like Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Sophie Ellis Bextor. This is the film that Love Clapham’s been waiting for, the movie adaptation of the best selling book, the Time Traveller’s Wife. There aren’t any reviews yet, so it could either be amazing or a stinker, but we’re still keen to see the story played out on the big screen. Out on 19th August, Inglourious Basterds is a film set in France during World War 2 with the usual Tarantino gory humour and action.
